So there was a blackout today. With no electricity, it meant no computer, no internet (wifi down), no baking, no movies, nothing! The lack of activity brought about this stifling ennui that seemingly stretched on, and even though it was only for a couple of hours, I got all fidgety, wandering around the house like a ghost and not knowing what to do with myself.
I managed to wash my car though, AND waxed it. Got rid of this big spider spinning its web all over the side door too. Thing is, I got most of that done before the electricity died, and the sense of achievement at having a bright shiny car kicked up the adrenalin in me, so I was literally running up and down the house annoying my mum. She found it rather amusing that I was stuck at home with nothing to do like a hamster in a wheel, but she was definitely feeling the boredom as well. First world problem indeed: what to do when there is no electricity.
Dreading work next week, but let's try to get Melbourne entries out of the way before that happens, or it'll never get done.

9am
We arrived at Port Campbell, which is an overshoot to where 12 Apostles were because we didn't know the way, but it was alright- breakfast time! At 29 Lord Street, Port Campbell 3269, Vic Australia, Waves cafe was open and since it was the only cafe that had guests inside, we decided to head in. Their menu was fairly typical and I ordered an eggs benedict. Poached eggs remain one of the hardest way to cook an egg and to get right, but consider me impressed. That waterfall of golden yolk just running down into the sourdough and pooling on the plate was a sure sign that the chef of this cafe knows what he's doing. Sour mushrooms though, thank goodness I didn't order that.

We managed to eventually get to the 12 Apostles and now that I'm back and I saw some photos of people who go there during sunset, I'm a bit jealous. It would have been breathtaking to visit this place during dawn or dusk. Nonetheless, 'twas a fine sunny morning when we went, with blue skies that you can only see when you're not in Asia (slack I know, but come on, it's true). There are only about 8.5 apostles left... well, 9 really, but no fear, since nature is constantly replenishing itself, more are in the making.

It was really beautiful and quite a wonder that nature can be so amazing. The shapes, the sea, the patterns and ridges carved into the surface of the stones that appear like a master sculpture's work of a lifetime, the sound of waves as one gazes out into the horizon where sea meets sky, the cool wind whipping all around, the smell of salt and fresh grass...
I think I AM suffering from post holiday blues afterall.

3pm
We arrive back in Melbourne CBD just in time for lunch. Who am I kidding, our meal hours are everywhere, but we are still going according to the plan so that is always a good sign. Stagger Lee's was a find on a website as the most highly searched for restaurant, and it's no wonder why. It was crowded at 3pm. They had a good selection of cold drip: Brazil, Bolivia, Indonesia, Colombia and Panama. I ordered the Colombia- Elkin Cruzman, sweet grapefruit, orange, floral notes with chocolate and nuts. It was rather weak and not quite as nice as the one from 1000£ Bend, but that was fine- since we already had a coffee in the morning.

The food... I need more words to describe good food, because "amazing", "delicious", "mind-blowingly tasty", and "beautiful" just doesn't cut it anymore. Delectable? Exquisite? Toothsome?
Read this and tell me you aren't secretly wishing you had it in front of you, from top left to bottom right:
Roasted cauliflower and spatchcock: marinated grilled spatchcock, roasted and creamed cauliflower, smoked almonds, pickled onions and pomegranate
Beef cheeks and barley: braised beef cheeks, sweet onions, pine nut barley, brussel sprout leaves.
Fat Bacon Toasty: apple wood smoked bacon, English cheddar, HP sauce, truss tomatoes and pickled eggs
Stack&Billy Burger: double Black Angus shin patties, American mustard, ketchup, pickles, cheddar, served with bacon croquette
Definitely one of the highlights from the plan this time round!
